KOLKATA: An 11-year-old celebrity climate activist from Manipur is being allegedly threatened and abused by online trolls for her social media posts on the Meitei-Kuki clashes in her native state.
“I have been receiving these threats almost every day. I just block them,” she told TOI, sharing screenshots of some of the comments.
The girl said she had no idea that speaking out against the clashes in Manipur and posting pictures of the violence would invite such a backlash.

This was right after clashes first broke out in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on May 3, she said.
According to her, some people from the Kuki community visited her family in Delhi with a request not to write about the clashes on her social media. “I told the visiting group that they should not ask me to keep quiet whenour state is burning. I appealed to them to reach out to the Kuki community and ask them to stop burning houses in Churachandpur, Moreh and Kangpokpi. I say the same to the Meiteis,” she said.
Undeterred by the alleged intimidation, the youngster said she wouldn't stop freely expressing her thoughts.
